Russian Missiles Destroy Five Ukrainian Fighter Planes

So far this year, the Ukrainian military has adopted 480 models of weapons and military equipment.
On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry informed that its country’s armed forces launched a missile strike on an airfield in Ukraine’s Poltava region, destroying five Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jets.

The attack by an Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system targeted the aircraft parking area at the Myrhorod airfield, destroyed five Su-27 fighter jets belonging to the Ukrainian armed forces, and damaged two more undergoing repairs at the time.
The Russian defense ministry also released video footage of the strike. Ukrainian authorities have issued no immediate response so far.
Previously, on Monday, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry informed that its military adopted about 480 models of weapons and military equipment in the first half of 2024.
In particular, 290 of the models were products of domestic arms manufacturers. Among the weapons approved in the January-June period, the ministry listed different types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), including aerial reconnaissance drones, and various ammunition.
Besides, Ukraine has adopted communication facilities, radio-electronic warfare means, and demining tools, among other military equipment. Ivan Havryliuk, the first deputy defense minister, said Ukraine’s armament needs are significant due to the ongoing conflict with Russia.
In 2023, the Ukrainian military adopted more than 200 models of domestically produced weapons and military equipment, according to the Defense Ministry.
